Alabama at bat in the bottom of the first:

Two lefty batters to start against Michigan's left-handed ace, Nikki Nemitz.

Rogers takes gets down two strikes, battles a bit and pops up foul to a running-in left fielder for out one.

Parker takes on on the wrists but it got some bat for strike one. She also falls behind 0-2. She's battling, fighting off a few and taking a ball, but strikes out swinging. Out two.

Montalvo chops one back to the pitcher for out three.

After one:

Michigan 0 0 0
Alabama 0 0 0

This could be a pitching duel.

Apparently it's not consistent, at least Kelsi doesn't think it is.

Nemitz is consistently hitting the 66 mph mark, which is pretty sporty.

Dunne mixes speeds from a 40 mph change-up to low 60s and relies more on spin.

Michigan in the top of the second:

Maggie Viefhaus (who Alabama recruited -- not sure if she got an offer -- after seeing her sister play for Southern Illinois several years aback at a regional) gets rung up looking on the outside corner.

Nemitz, who obviously also hits, steps in. Dunne falls behind with three balls. Dunne misses on the inside corner and issues a four-pitch walk.

Shaw, who went 3-for-3 with three home runs off three different pitchers against Baylor in a Super Regional game, is hit by pitch.

Kirkpatrick up with runners on first and second, two outs. She bloops a single to left to load the bases.

That ends Dunne's hitless streak at 13 1/3 innings.

Nine-hole hitter, Ewing, with a big chance. Bases loaded and Dunne throws two balls. Ewing fouls two off to the left side to even the count. Goes full low on the outside corner, then misses inside to walk in a run.

Michigan leads 1-0 with the bases-loaded walk and Dunne is really struggling.

First pitch to leadoff hitter Evans is a ball and pitching coach Vann Stuedemann visits the circle. Evans fouls one off to the left side with a 1-2 count, but 3b, ss and lf all converge and no one can quite get to it.

Evans grounds out to second for out three.

Michigan scores a run on one hit, two walks and a hit batter for a 1-0 lead.

i have dialup, can't watch it, and the TV has been "claimed" by others, so i can't watch it there either. Oh well, y'all will just have to keep me up to date here then!

Yeah, fortunately we got out of the inning with just 1 run scored. If we can't score more than that we don't deserve to be here.
