Just got to Bryant-Denny Stadium.

It's soaking wet, of course, but at least from here it looks like the field has drained well -- but, of course, that's before anyone is out there running around on it, so who knows if it's sloshy yet.

It occurs to me that the two cranes in the south end zone are the biggest lightning rods in the county. Glad it's only rain now and not the thunderheads we got last night.

Saw Bill Curry near the elevator on his way in -- he asked me if I know where the Lettermen's Club is. I did not ask him if he'd earned a letter at UA (just kidding -- sort of).

First few students are starting to enter the stadium and the rain is now a downpour.

I'm stuck at work with no tv and somebody took the speakers to the computer so I can watch on ESPN360 but with no sound. Wonder if I can fire whoever snagged the speakers?

Good news is the rain has stopped.

We parked in the lot adjacent to Wallace Wade so I didn't get to see the Quad. The crowd leaves a lot to be desired. I'm sure a lot more will file in before kickoff, but not looking good so far. Even the student section (non Greek) isn't full.

My best guess is this is going to be the smallest crowd for a UA "home" game since the Southern Miss game at Legion Field during Fran's first year.

And if the students don't fill their section, I say take away 5,000 tickets for the next home game, and if they don't fill that take 5,000 more -- they're getting in practically for free.
