Great graphic by Anthony Bratina, who did his usual fine job in taking a concept and making it come to life.

One interesting factoid that didn't make it into the article: McElroy's father has been VP of sales and marketing for the Cowboys for four years. Before that, he held the same type position for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He commuted (weekly, I think) by jet because Greg didn't want to pull up and leave Southlake Carroll High.

When Greg Sr. and I were trading phone messages, we missed each other the first time because he was catching a plane back home from a convention in Las Vegas.

Tough life for that family.
you did great dude!!! real good read

Thanks. I, for one, am going to be VERY surprised if this kid doesn't turn out to be something pretty special.

If his high school career is any indication, he'll turn out to be something very special, alright. He's clearly a leader from everything I have read. Whether that translates to production on the field, we will find out very soon. IF McElroy can put up BIG numbers against the Hokies (which I believe he can), it could be a very long year... for everyone Bama plays.

OK, that settles it. On the press material table they have Alabama media guides (the ever-popular Julio cover), the Virginia Tech (football) media guide, and ...

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP ...

Virginia Tech's BAND MEDIA GUIDE!!!!

You will be missed.

"This was the fastest defense if you went from 1-11," Nutt said. "It's from the cornerbacks, to the safeties, to the linebackers, to the D-line. They're the best I've ever seen."-Houston Nutt after the UM/BAMA game.

The UA team just entered the building moments ago, dressed smartly in suits.

I don't know what the under-over is on how much cotton it takes to outfit Cody, but it's a bunch. He was his usual animated self walking in behind the security barracade.

He always does. Then he changes before kickoff, like the rest of the team.

On a barely related note, last week I ordered tickets for the Tampa Bay Bucs at Atlanta Falcons game here in late November so I can take my wife to an NFL game.

So I am guaranteed a return trip to the Dome. From my scouting report I've got pretty good tickets. Should be fun.
