Meanwhile, Dombrowski had no problem with Rutledge, Wilson and Avila, putting them down fairly easily for a quick top of the first.

Let's see how Howell pitches under what is easily the most pressure he has felt in his young career...three pitches and the leadoff batter, Keenan Wiley is out.

Single through the middle/left of the infield that was just out of Rutledge's reach. Wilkes has only attempted three stolen bases all year, I'm sure he'll stay put with Carroll coming to the plate.

Another questionable call on an 0-2 pitch from Howell that would have been strike three to Carroll. The crowd is growing restless already with home plate umpire David Savage (or as they like to call him "Blue").

It's easy to see why Dombrowski is succesfull. His delivery isn't what you would call a traditional "sidearm" delivery, but it is in that mold. He's just unconventional enough to throw the hitters off.

His main pitch is what the Kentucky media guide describes as a "deadly, sinking fastball to force ground ball outs."

In the meantime, Alabama has runners at the corners (May and Matthes) with one out and Tyler Odle at the plate.

Kubal just ripped one over the fence in left for a grand slam, giving Alabama a 5-0 lead.

The crowd, as one would expect, went nuts.

The hit was Kubal's first against Kentucky this season, he had previously been 0-11 against the Wildcats.

What a time to come up with a hit, much less a grand slam.
