It's worth noting nobody is warming up in the Alabama bullpen right now.

It looks as though Jim Wells is going to let Hyatt finish what he started.

In the meantime, Bentley just got hit by a pitch with Alex Kubal coming in to pinch run.

Kubal stole second and then advanced to third on a throwing error.

Still one out, 1-2 count to Kent Matthes.

Fantastic catch on the warning track by UGA cf Adam Fuller.

Unfortunately for the Dawgs the shot was easily deep enough to allow Kubal to tag up and score.

5-1 as we go to the top of the ninth...out comes Hyatt.

Great play by Jake Smith, throwing on the run across his body to get the first out.

Incredible back handed stop by Ross Wilson on a sharply hit ball up the middle to garner the second out...the crowd comes to its feet.

A line drive double to the wall in left by Beckham keeps UGA alive.

Right fielder Kent Matthes just dropped the potential game ending out on a tough, running catch near foul territory.

Beckham scored and Massanari, who hit the ball, end up at third.

5-2 now

Matthes redeems himself, making a nice catch on a sharply hit ball while looking straight into the sun.

Final line on Hyatt: 9 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.

Alabama will face the loser of the Kentucky-Ole Miss game.

Be back shortly.

A few quick nuggets from the postgame press conference.

- Austin Hyatt said he fell asleep around 3:00 a.m. following the Tide's game against Kentucky. He said the team had a pre-game meal at 10:00 a.m., meaning they had to be up by 9:00 a.m.

(the hardest part to overcome was probably the mental drain more so than the physical aspect...these guys are young and able).

- Wells said that there would be a slim chance that LHP Miers Quigley would start tommorow's game against either Kentucky or Ole Miss.

- Wells also noted how this win pretty much secured Alabama a spot in the NCAA tournament.

- The game lasted only 2 hours and 33 minutes, by far the quickest of the tournament up to this point.

And we're back...blogging live from Regions Park in Hoover on a crisp, late spring evening.

Vanderbilt just eliminated South Carolina from the SEC Tournament, defeating the Gamecocks 7-5. They advance to play Ole Miss tommorrow morning at 10:00 (CST).

In the meantime, first pitch of the Alabama-Kentucky game is set for 6:50 (CST).

As they blare "Sweet Child O' Mine" over the PA, I'm off to get tonight's starting lineups.

Be back shortly!

-Alabama (Away)
1. SS Josh Rutledge .379 0 HR 26 RBI
2. 2B Ross Wilson .284 12 HR 42 RBI
3. C Alex Avila .330 16 HR 58 RBI
4. DH Brandon May .367 9 HR 47 RBI
5. 1B Matt Bentley .262 10 HR 42 RBI
6. RF Kent Matthes .301 10 HR 42 RBI
7. LF Tyler Odle .291 3 HR 21 RBI
8. 3B Jake Smith .239 7 HR 29 RBI
9. CF Alex Kubal .331 3 HR 16 RBI

LHP Del Howell 5.02 ERA, 0-0 WL

Notes:

- Dombrowski is Kentucky's school record holder for winning percentage. He has not lost a game since a May 2007 setback at South Carolina.

- Howell will be making only his second start of the season. His other start came against Jacksonville State (3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 1 K). Howell, though, has pitched this season against Kentucky, turning in a five-inning, eight strikeout performance in a relief appearance against the Wildcats on March 15.

- Oddly enough Howell tied an Alabama single game tournament record with three strikeouts as a DH in the first game against Kentucky, a 9-3 Alabama loss.

- Alabama is 0-4 against Kentucky this season and has been outscored 36-11 in the four games.

For such a beautiful day to play baseball, each team's uniform choices are somewhat odd.

Kentucky is wearing black shirts, white pants and white hats with a blue bill. Alabama is wearing the same exact thing as yesterday, except their shirts and pants are grey instead of white.

Point being, each team's uniforms look quite dull. Alabama probably had no choice to wear grey, but Kentucky could have opted for something other than black.

I guess you have to bring a lot of different uniform combinations when there is a possibility of playing anywhere from 4-6 games (or you could do like LSU and wear the same uniform every time. Not everybody, though, has won 18 straight games).

Right now the grounds crew is watering the infield dirt, the PA is playing Sam and Dave's "Soul Man" and we are nearing first pitch.

The crowd is already twice the size it was for yesterday's Alabama-UGA game and we haven't even started yet.

The stands along the first and third base lines are basically full, while the section behind home plate is filling up as well.

It should also be noted that there is a HUGE Alabama contingent here. Since this is the last game of the day there is really no spillover from the other games.

The Captain Obvious statement of the day is this: Alabama has the home field advantage.

And we're underway. First pitch to Josh Rutledge at 6:52 (CST) was a ball.

Rutledge just struck out on a questionable third strike call (at least in the minds of Alabama fans) that would have been ball four...one out.
