Five-star prospect |
Huge gasp from the crowd as Alex Avila was within picometers of hitting a two run home run over the LSU logo in right center.
3-1 now as a Brandon May single drove home Wilson. |

A routine, inning ending grounder from Kent Matthes just turned into an error-aided RBI triple.
Bulldog third baseman Ryan Peisel's throw flew over the head of first baseman Robbie O'Bryan, allowing May to score while also allwing Matthes to come all the way around to third. It's now 4-1 Alabama. |

Another one, two, three inning for Hyatt.
Through four complete innings he has allowed only one run on one hit while striking out five. 4-1 as the bottom of the fourth nears. |

Very impressive over the shoulder basket catch by UGA ss Gordon Beckham on a lighltly hit ball to shallow left by Jake Smith.

Random thought....
Every player on Alabama wears their pants pulled all the way down to their shoes except for two (of which I can't see). Same for UGA, their players prefer the pants down look as well. It's worth mentioning that every starter has the pants down look going on for both teams as well. Personally, I prefer the high socks look as opposed to the pants down look...but what do I know. |

Three up, three down again for Hyatt as Josh Rutledge makes a nice scoop and toss to end the inning.
4-1 Alabama as we head to the bottom of the fifth with Avila leading off. |

Brandon May got a one out single but the Tide couldn't do anything with it as Matt Bentley struck out and Kent Matthes grounded out.
Alabama has now left five on base, but still leads 4-1 going into the top of the sixth. |

For a team that probably didn't leave the ballpark last night (early this morning) until about 2:45 or 3:00 (and for that matter probably didn't get to sleep at the hotel until around 4ish), Alabama has not looked sluggish at all.
Part of that has been Hyatt's dominance, however the Tide has been agressive on the base paths and have been on the good end of a few errors by the Dawgs. New pitcher for UGA, RHP Dean Weaver, as Tyler Odle leads off the bottom of the sixth. |

Meanwhile, the fans are out in droves (and I don't mean actual people, I mean artificial wind makers).
About every third to fourth person in the stands is waving a Chick-Fil-A cow's head fan to keep cool. The sun is out, the rain has stayed away and it is getting a wee bit toasty. |

In other conference tournament action, East Carolina just eliminated No. 5 Rice from the Conference USA tournament after UAB shocked them in the opening round.
For those keeping an eye on the upcoming NCAA Tournament, it should be interesting to see how this affects Rice's seeding. Beckham, to lead off the top of the seventh with UGA trailing still 4-1. |

No runs, no hits and no errors once again.
Hyatt is still keeping the Dawgs at bay, allowing only the first inning single (which would have been out if Jake Smith's left arm was about an inch longer). If Alabama can get some runs in the bottom of the seventh they could put some serious pressure on the SEC's No. 1 seed. Rutledge (who has reached base in all three at bats) to lead off. |

Three up, three down for UGA's Weaver at the top of the Bama batting order.
Six more outs for the Dawgs, it's now or never...we'll see if they can get to Hyatt. Peisel, the No. 1 batter in the order, to lead off. |

The attendance for the Alabama-UGA was just announced...and it is: 5,894.
In the meantime, Hyatt just allowed his second hit of the game, this time a single to dh Jake Crane. One on, one out as cf Adam Fuller steps in. |

No runs, one hit, one left on for UGA.
It goes without saying, Hyatt has been an absolute stud. If the Tide can hang on and beat the SEC's No. 1 seed it would eliminate any doubt as to whether or not they will make the NCAA tournament. Let's see if UA can get some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth, May to lead off. |

And out of nowhere somebody just started an "Ala"..."Bama" cheer.
Now he is trying to get a Roooooooolllllllll Tide, Roll started. Unfortunatly, May just struck out. |
