We don't hear of maulings by wiener dogs do we? I'm sure other dogs are mistreated but this dog seems to kill more kids than any other breed.

This is so terrifying and tragic. My "pound puppy" is half black lab and half pit bull. She definitely has more of the lab personality and demeanor, but she can be very dog . . . not human . . . aggressive. She's still very young (20 months), so I'm hoping I can get her out of that. Guess I need to call the Dog Whisperer. But as long as she doesn't attack people . . . especially children, I guess I can live with it.

NALT always defends the pit bulls no how many kids they kill.

Look, we have plenty of extinct animal species in the world and it keeps on going, let’s just exterminate this one too and then we can put the extinct breed’s picture on a tie or something and sell it to raise money for polar ice or whatever. We should exterminate all vicious breeds, Pit Bulls Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc., etc. And we could pump some money into the auto parts industry at the same time.

Well I hate to say this but you’re likely to have problems. My sister in law found/rescued a puppy that turned out to be part pitbull; I think mostly pitbull, that is extremely aggressive to other dogs, unprovoked.

6 months ago she was in her car at my house and my Kerry Blue was outside in the yard, and the dog jumped out of the car as soon as the door opened and nearly ripped my dogs head off and would have killed her if I had not been there.

My dog is not the equivalent to my daughter but she is a part of my family and she does matter to us. There is no way to justify owning a dog that is bread to viscously attack another dog... a lot of times these dogs don't distinguish between a dog and a kid.

The problem is that the aggressiveness is part of the breeding, much like a labs desire to swim and hunt. It’s not something you can “train” out of them, you can train some discipline perhaps, but you can’t remove the aggressiveness.

I honestly dont see the need in having a dog like this around anymore.Apparently there is something in the dogs makeup that makes it snap.
Sure there might be some good ones out there but theres a lot more of the bad ones.

yall do realize another name for pit bull is nanny dog because they are good with kids its not the dog its the owner

they also use pitbulls as service dogs

I am still somewhat on the fence. Will I let me toddlers play around pit bulls? No. Will I let my toddlers stay at my sister's house with their cousin (they own pit bulls)? No. Do I think the media only reports these maulings because it is the "in" thing to report? Yes. I am sure there are other dogs that do the same but pit bulls are just the hot topic of late.

NALT is more concerned with the "Quote Function" of a football forum than he is with the senseless killing of children by a breed of don that should be outlawed.

Even if this is the case why is the pit bull the dog always mauling kids? They are not the only dog that is neglected or mistreated. Certainly not all pit bulls are killers but the majority of kills seem to be from pit bulls.

That's a good point, BT. It does seem that they are much more capable to kill quickly. Or maybe not let up?

I think German Shepards are responsible for a large number of attacks too, but I'm prob wrong about that.
