I can't remember which thread you said something about teaching special ed in, but you said you were at a school w/ 4 autistic classrooms? What do you teach? Sorry if I'm supposed to know this already, but I have limited brain cells and most of them are busy telling me my legs hurt.

Hi Zuter, sorry but I'm just now seeing this. I don't teach anymore. My job title is Exceptional Student Education Specialist. Big fancy title but not in pay. I spend my day observing the teachers and students, attending eligibility/ineligibility meetings, setting up transportation, overseeing the paraprofessionals, assisting the parents when problems arise, etc.

We have close to 100 self contained students and roughly 50 in regular education classes but that is not counting the Speech/Language students.

I taught the Emotionally Handicapped and Specific Learning Disability students when in the classroom.

Wow...my wife could talk up a storm w/ you. I pretty much just stick w/ math. She has a master's in counseling, but I'm not sure she wants to leave the classroom yet.

Zute, what kind of issues does she counsel for?

I might need to talk to you or her.

I think mainly me...she's all the time trying to tell me how to fix myself...lol. Actually, she's still in the classroom. Her degree is more along the lines of a HS counselor, not like a psychologist.

Me??? You need help w/ an equation or something?? outside of that I'm pretty much useless. Frowner

Naw. I have one kid that has some "issues" that originated with the birth mother. Serious issues! Just was hoping that she might be able to offer some good advice.
