I wonder if the way obesity is determined has been changed since the 80s. People look about the same to me now as they did then, but watching that map made it change colors like Christmas lights.

I am trying to reverse this trend. I joined a club and have been working out 6 days a week. I am feeling much better.

My biggest issue with nationalizing healthcare is that I don't want to have to pay for all of the smokers and obese people with their COPD, diabetes and heart disease. I have no problem helping pay for people with genetic diseases, cancers with no known source, etc. But when you do it to yourself, I don't want to be responsible. Of course, more than half of the adults age 40 and over on Medicaid are smokers and/or obese, so I guess I am already paying for them.
My biggest pet peeve are people with handicap stickers on their cars who get out, walk into a building with a cigarette in their mouth. i've read about the obesity problem in our country.....and everytime i walk through the mall, walmart, or even on vacation at somewhere like disney world i look at the people around me, trying to find something to refute this "fact"..
and, the fact is, i can't....my new idea has been to look around at the people who are shopping/walking around in whatever southern city i happen to be in and find those who might be a normal weight.... not posting any scientific survey, just my own observation....people who look to be a healthy weight are few and far between.....it's scarey! |
