Honestly i am not sure the Dems winning so many seats in the house and the senate was a good thing.

I think our country works best when both parties share control and have to work together to help our country. I know alot of your are scared and i can't do anything to help that fear. But please take solace in the fact that we will be ending some senseless wars and hopefully spending all this money we have been pouring into Iraq and attempt to fix our economy.

I know many of you are afraid of further taxation and loss of rights. I mean i don't know what the future holds but i don't think it can be any worse than the last 8 years.

BTW TP your still hot if that makes you feel any better ......

Last night was a nightmare for me. I knew it was coming, but just having it be final was heartbreaking. I pray that my fears and others fears won't come true, but I don't know what to think right now.

I was not an Obama supporter, but I can see after watching him last night during his speech how he pulled this thing off. My problem with liberal democrats is thier stance on social issues and all the double talk. From an economic standpoint, we may just be better off, that remains to be seen.

I will say this. It's not a time to point fingers or whine and cry about your guy not winning. It is time for Americans to try and begin to unite. Is that possible? I don't know....I doubt it. I think the country showed last night by the popular vote just how split right down the middle we really are.

From a Personal standpoint The election last night Didn't change a few things.

God is still God, and he is still in control

God is still full of grace

If God's people who are called by him will humble themselves and pray and seek his face. He will hear from heaven and he will heal their land

God is still the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

All the same things that have brought God's favor and revival on this country in the past still exist today.

Ha, that's how I got through the night as well. It's hard to be too depressed with a bottle of wine and a good pizza.

I also agree with all points here (incl. the TP is hot one). Smiler

Having one party in control of Congress and another in control of the Whitehouse helps to keep those idiots in Washington in some measure of check.

On a somber note, I had lunch today with an 82 year old German woman who was a teenager in Germany during the holocaust. She worked with her local priest to smuggle Jewish people, downed English pilots and one priest (who the Nazis were searching for). She was interred in a prison camp for her activities.

Today she was quite emotional and said waking up today was like waking up in 1933.

Sometime back she made a comment about Germany. She said there were good people and there were bad people in Germany, but when God punished them for the holocaust everyone lost everything.

She has said in the past that she believes killing unborn babies is the American holocaust and that God will punish us too - and that everyone will be punished, just like in Germany.

4,000 babies are aborted every DAY in the US. That's more than the total of lives lost in Iraq and more than the lives lost on 9/11.

It is a poverty to decide that an unborn child must die so that you may live as you like.

True! Maybe a demo prez and a demo-controlled Congress will undo this dreadful federal arbitration and federal preemption. It is a major hypocrisy of the Repubs to claim they are all about states' rights and push these types of legislation through Congress.

That, for me, is the silver lining in the events unfolding.

I will say that more than the outcome of the presidential race, the gay agenda that is being pushed in various states bothers me greatly. I'm not bashing gays, but God never intended for there to be gay marriage. I'll probably take some beating on this one, but I don't care. It concerns me as a Believer!

Agreed as to arbitration, which should be limited to agreements between interstate corporations, and hence the commerce clause, because it certainly isn't an "agreement" when applied to individuals.

The "gay agenda" which concerns you is really just a get-out-the-vote measure, designed to ensure that the conservative base shows up at the ballot box, similarly to abortion voting issues. You don't see these come up except in close election years.

What I wonder about "believers" and gay marriage issues, though, is: doesn't your church define what constitutes marriage? (That is certainly true in the Catholic Church.) Whether the government calls it a "marriage" or "civil union," should not really affect one's religious beliefs. The definition concerns more the citizen's relationship with the government -- calling it a "marriage" changes inheritance, income tax, standing, divorce, etc. status. I think it would bring in more business for lawyers.

Ok....all this political talk is great.....but you still haven't told me if I count as a charity, TP! Wink

I'm definitely "not for profit" these days....unfortunately, I don't see it getting any better with Obama or a DEMO congress.
