Whether he wins or not, his nomination is incredibly historic. CNN just interview Jim Clyburn and John Lewis and their words of what this moment means to them was overwhelming. These two men are American heroes and for them to see what they risked their lives for 45 years ago was driven home by their interview. Clyburn was too emotional to talk in depth, but Lewis started to name people who were killed during the civil rights movement and said for the first time in his life he felt like their fight was finally justified today.

It was very emotional and powerful.

It is a huge deal. Fifty years ago, blacks couldn't even drink from a public water fountain. We've come a long way.

Absolutely historic. And I hope that even those who don't support Obama understand and appreciate the significance of this event to these United States of America.

The image that will forever stand in my mind was the single Black lady, probably about 60 years of age or so, who was just standing there on the verge of tears after the affirmation passed. She wasn't clapping, or yelling, or anything else. She just stood with her hands clasped, smiling, and watching the jubilation below and around her.

That was my point. Whether you support Obama or not, this is historic. And to listen to two brave and proud Americans like Clyburn and Lewis talk about what it means drives that home.

As a Republican and a Conservative, I appreciate the "historic" moment aspect of this election, but I'll appreciate it even more when its not "historic" and simply an election based on the most qualified person regardless of race, gender or any other ridiculous category people have no choice about.

This year Obama has absolutely no chance of winning based on the former.

Ok, not that anyone cares, but this is my last political post for awhile…

The only thing that concerns me is people will vote for their candidate based solely on race. Yes this is a racist statement and meant to be, there are plenty of racists in all colors.
