We waited for Fay to blow through and released the rescued flying squirrel that was given to us by a friend. (I raised one from a baby and had him for 7 years.)

For those of you who have never seen one, they are small, fast!!, and have the softest fur. Their tails feel like a feather. I loved his big eyes - he has such a pretty face!

He did let us pet him and liked having his cheek rubbed. We called him Lil Buddy.

You forgot to mention...THOSE THINGS ARE CRAZY!!! For anyone who hunts, you know they will not leave a shooting house or blind for almost any reason and will bite you if they get the chance.

You are right! They can attack and bite like crazy!

This one, though rescued when full-grown, never bit me hard, but he did give warning nibbles if I was trying to pick him up.

I once was picking up a bat box that had fallen when four flying squirrels ran out - one at a time. After three I thought the box was empty and was carrying it to the garage. Half-way across the yard, the fourth squirrel jumped out, and not seeing a nearby tree, ran up me instead. Fortunately, I reacted in time to just brush him off. I did not want him near my face!!!
