Can anyone even stand the lies being told tonight by these veterans of the United States military. Josh, I respect what you have said about the administration and understand why you have those feelings but for the life of me I cannot believe what your fellow service members have said tonight during the DNC convention on CSPAN. If you can, please help me understand what they are saying. I would really appreciate your response and any other service members response to this because myself and other members of this forums who have not served cannot realistically response to these statements. I am shocked and appalled and do not know how to react.

And yet you began with "lies being told tonight by these veterans." What is your standard of reference?

My standard of reference is the classmates and family members who have served in Iraq and are not only in disagreement with what is being said about the war but about their treatment when coming home. I can understand not wanting to be over there but the statements being made at this convention go above and beyond what my family members and friends say about the war and their treatment.

I respect your family and friends' opinions, but just because some of our service men and women have a different opinion does not make them liars.

So if classmates and family members who have served in Iraq have already advised you, why are you asking military personnel/veterans on here to help you understand? What would we say that would be further illuminating? Or are you merely looking for second opinions?

With several million people in the military you can always find a few horror stories. Thats what they are doing in the DNC. Its just like any other big corporation. I wouldnt call them liars either but its sure not reflective of the military or the VA as a whole. Im sure your family understands that but you are correct it is bothersome to see it when the DNC TRYS to project it as a huge problem.

You are exactly right, I am looking for second opinions.

It's also going to be much like America in the sense that it's highly regional. The citizens and soldiers in one part of Iraq or Afghanistan will have a completely different point of view and opinion about the war that those in another. Similar to asking someone in Alabama what they think of Barack Obama, vs. asking someone from New York or Illinois. Soldiers in different parts of the country who have different tasks and have seen different things will all have different opinions. Those with a lighter load and who have experienced favorable conditions and a lack of combat will have a much higher opinion of the war and are likely to relay that message - just as those who have seen their friends being blown away will likely have more of a negative opinion.
