lose it's antlers? I would love to find some that were shed because I have an idea of something that I would like to do with them.

Care to share the idea? You could always go kill a buck. But I wouldn't suggest going hunting with Ben.

From what info I have gathered they usually lose them around the end of Febuary around here.So Im thinking that it should be around the end of January or the beginning of Febuary up there.I may be wrong though.

We look for them in mid March...

They are usually close to game trails and thicker cover...

It's also a good chance to do some advance scouting for turkeys...

They lose them mid to late spring in central AL. You'd better find them quickly though because rabbits and squirrels love to eat them for the calcium.

The also hardly ever lose both of them at the same time. When looking for them look in thick areas where they are likely to bed down for long periods of time.

They are not easy to find.

Ok. I am thinking about starting to make "custom" ink pens and lead pencils. I think a set made from deer antlers would be very pretty. I would have to use the very tips where they are smaller though. The larger parts would be better suited for making knife handles.

Thanks for the info guys.

There is a guy that makes those down here. They are very pretty but also very expensive.
My dad used to have a skinning knife made out of an antler.I broke the blade on it one time and hid it in the bottom of the trash can.He still thinks to this day that he lost that knife and even though Im 32 years old now Im not telling him any different.

They lose them sometime in January here in Ga.

My buddy found a massive shed while we were rabbit hunting yesterday. Five points one of which was a kicker. It would easily go over 140 before deductions if the other side matched the side he found.

In my experience if you want to find sheds look in the thickest cover you can find(briar patches, privot hedges, ect.). The only reason I can think of is as the antlers get "loose", they tend to snag on these things and fall off.

I'd like to give a shout out to Seagrams Gin, 'cause I drink it and they payin me for it.
