One problem, the killer at Virginia Tech didn't use military type weapons

It's too late to stop guns now, there are too many out there. Plus, criminals will find a way to get guns. Criminals don't follow laws, hence the term criminal. Even if we totally stopped the legal sale of guns, there would always be a way for criminals to get them. We can't stop drug smuggling, what makes anyone thing that we could stop gun smuggling.

It's fairly simple, tax the hell out of the ammunition. I promise you if a box of 9mm bullets cost $200 things would change.

I can't remember where I read it, or the validity of it, but I remember reading recently where the violent crime rate in Australia has increased since they enacted that law. Does anyone know what I am referring to?

People always blame these things on the gun and not on the person that pulls the trigger.

That is what Chris Rock said in one of his routines. He said if you make a bullet $5000.00, no more innocent bystanders would be shot. You would really have to piss some one off to get shot because they would go put a bullet on lay away, then come back a year later and shoot you.

Yep...If we had just had another fifty gun laws then this nut-case would not have illegally obtained a couple of pistols, filed the serial numbers off of them, bought a bullet proof vest and shot 50 people...

You're joking, right? If you can buy guns on the "black market", you can sure as heck buy ammunition on the "black market". And if you're gonna kill yourself anyhow, you could just charge it. Leave your relatives to pay the bills after you're gone.

Nope. They tax hell out of cigarrettes in New York, so people smuggle them in from other states, sell them for twice what they paid and still save New York smokers money. Instead of drugs, we'd have drugs AND ammunition smuggled in.

The problem at VT wasn't too many guns, it was too few. If three or four other students were armed and returning fire, fewer would be dead today, and fewer would try this crap tomorrow. As long as the crazies know they will be the only people armed, they will be emboldened to act on their sick fantasies.

That's stupid. Then law abiding, tax paying citizens couldn't afford guns or ammo. STOP BLAMING THE SYSTEM. It's the killers that kill. Guns are inanimate objects that just sit innocently by until a wacko picks one up and kills people.
