I like the concepts the Wii brings to the proverbial table, but this is clearly a "family-oriented" system and that may be good for a lot of folks, but for gamers that are into the serious titles, this isn't the system for them. The graphics processor isn't in the same league as the PS3/360, so yeah...the better looking games are gonna be on the other systems. Having said that....I LOOOVE playing tennis on the Wii...that's about it though. Smiler

I did hear there is a boxing game thats fun on that thing.

hehehehe....yeah, that's pretty fun too. That's all included on the "Sports" disc that typically comes with the system. You do have to buy another controller to play boxing, but you might as well if you get the Wii.

360 by far. The online community is so much bigger and funner. Especially since the upgrade yesterday. The amount of games will always be a factor. The graphics are about the same. But you do have the blu-ray on PS3. It is all in what you want out of your system. If you like playing people across the country with many more games, go with the 360.

DLed the "New Xbox Experience" update last night. With it, you can now copy games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. This effectively lengthens the life of the system by cutting out the spin time. Load times are much better also

Dude ... buy your own flat screen and put it where you want. You (help) pay the mortgage, right?

I am expecting a new 42" Sharp 1080p to be delivered today ... straight into my mancave/studio. Sweet.

Nothing quite like buying Christmas presents for yourself after the kids are grown ... and a tax write-off at that as it will be used (primarily) for screening slideshows to prospective clients. :-) That being said, I can see the Iron Bowl making its way onto that screen next weekend ... in glorious CBS HD!

My sympathies, guy ... we just moved into our new home last weekend. (Doing my part to help the economy, you know!) When most people get our ages (me 53, wife 57), they look to downsize ... we doubled our square footage. Viva la difference! I finally have a studio!

Good luck on selling the house ... our old house (in Northwood Lake in Northport) is going on the market next week. Hope it's *SOLD* within 6 months.

GS Goober had a good post on the benefits.
I have both and I'm older (late 50's) and I rarely play with the 360 anymore. The PS3 is newer so it doesn't have the fan base of the 360 but it is growing.
I play most games online and rarely play single player except to get familiar with the games.
The Blu-ray player on HD is unreal. I have a 56" tv so it is easy to get immersed in the movies and games.
The built in wi-fi on the PS3 is very convenient but I have both connected by ethernet.
Both systems have features that you can stream movies or music from your computer so that is not an issue.
The PSN (network) is young and still growing but right now the 360 has an advantage there.
The 360 has a larger game library but doesn't play HD movies(if you comment on the old HD player give it up because they are NOT releaseing any new movies)
The reason I bought my PS3 was for the Blu-ray but I have found the gaming to be a lot of fun.

You can't go wrong whatever you do.

If the kids have friends that play online that may help you decide.

Dollar for dollar I would by the Playstation

I prefer the 360. I especially like the new Netflix feature. We downloaded the update last night and within 2 min had a movie playing through Netflix ($8.99 unlimited account).

I also think the 360 has a much better games library and we also enjoy the ability to connect to your home computer to access music.

It is far from perfect, but we found a number of movies last night to see. Plus, there are a lot for the kids to watch as well. We still have the option for getting the dvd through the mail, but it is a nice add on to be able to watch it through the 360.

The Netflix "watch instantly" selection will grow with time. They already offer over 10,000 titles! There's a decent selection of recent releases. And if you are willing to branch out from the usual mainstream Hollywood fare, you can find some great stuff.

Gamespot.com had a review of this feature with several solid tests and they actually came away somewhat disappointed. They said it didn't improve load times by a noticeable difference (3 seconds at best improvement based on their tests) and you still have to have the game in the tray to play it (to prevent renting and "ripping" the game to your HDD). The idea is nice, but it doesn't really add much. I think MS did it in hopes of encouraging the sale of their larger HDDs.
