I have both. That is the best option.
 But if you are forced to choose, and there is a high-def tv in the loop, then the PS3 is the way to go due mainly to the built in blu-ray player. The picture you get from a blu-ray movie is nothing short of stunning. Aside from that, gameplay is similar on the two consoles. Lots of odds and ends that I like about the two systems. For example, I like the fact that the Xbox controllers can take AA batteries. The PS3 controllers must be constantly charged. But I actually like the design of the PS3 controllers better (personal preference). I like the menu system of the PS3 better as well. The PS3 has a built-in web browser as well if you connect it to the internet. Both units can be connected to your local network to stream music, photos or video. |

I've known 3 people who got the red ring of death on their CrapBox 360. I actually like to be able to use my game system, instead of sending it back to the factory for repair that takes a month, because of the red ring of death. I'd choose the PS3 every day of the week & twice on Sunday. Plus, the Blu-ray player in it is great if you have an hdtv.

I don't think there's much difference. I paid $399 before tax for my PS3. I bought the Xbox long before the Elite version, so I don't know what it is priced. FWIW, I stalked a Best Buy when they first came out and bought one of the first Xbox360s. I played it for a day and got the RROD (Red Ring of Death.) Sent it back to the factory, waited 2 months, got it back, played it for a month and got the RROD again. It's been back 3 times for various problems. With that being said, it is still a fantastic console when it works and I would in no way dissuade you from heading in that direction. But like I said, blu-ray makes me prefer the PS3. |

IMO the 360 is better...which is why I own one but don't have a PSIII. Honestly though if you're just gonna be on sports games I don't think there would be much of a difference(performance/quality wise). To me the main difference in them is the exclusive titles that each system has...I think the 360 has a huge advantage in this.

They were backlogged early on because they couldn't figure out how to fix their problem. It was not uncommon in the early days to be without your console for 6-8 weeks. As they have grown smarter (one would have hoped they would have investigated the problem better before release), the repairs has subsided, thus the shorter turnaround time. |

That was kinda my point...just saying that the turnaround is a lot less now. The easy solution no matter which console you go w/ is just get the extra warranty at Best Buy...I know if ur 360 dies all you have to do w/ it is take it back to them and pick up a new one off the shelf(another friend of mine had to do this a few months ago). _________________________________________________ Never say anything bad about illiterate people...write it. ps3 no doubt. i have both and the blue ray player, slimmer controller and just looking cooler gives the edge to PS3. the library of games is larger on xbox but PS3 will catch up eventually. honestly, i haven't played as many games as watch blue ray movies. i'm also a sony fan, my camera, sound system and laptop are all sony so i'm biased

They have recently fixed most of the RROD problems in the new consoles. The problem was the soddering job, and the absents of heat sinks. If you get the elite version (slightly different video reader and a 120g harddrive) you wont have this problem at all.
I have both and I play my 360 more because of the games. Fable 2, Halo 3, Gears of War 2 and now alot of Playstation and nintendo games are coming to the Xbox such as Final Fantasy and Resident Evil. Even though the live section of the 360 costs 50 bucks a year, and PS3 doesn't, the online play for the Xbox is better.
