I've been thinking about making a song of the day thread for a long time. And now that the new year is just a couple days away, I have decided that I am going to count down my personal favorite 365 songs of all time.

Any comments are welcome. Whether you like the song, think it is over-rated, think I'm gay for liking it, etc. That's fine. Also, I will tell you that there will be a HUGE variety of music in the countdown, because I love any and all good music.

What you will not find is a cookie-cutter list of the greatest songs of all time. I will tell you right now Stairway to Heaven, Imagine, Smells Like Teen Spirit, etc will not be in the top 10. They might not even be in the countdown at all. I'm not going by any thing other than what I like personally. You'll see some classic country, some hard-core heavy metal, some gangsta rap, some Christian Contemporary, some old-school Mo-Town, Some alt. rock, etc...

The countdown will begin on January 1 @ #365 and the #1 song will be revealed on December 31, 2009. If, for some reason, I miss a day I will update ASAP, but hopefully I will be able to get the song up every morning.

This is the countdown thread. I will indicate the song with it's number, artist, and title in red, bold letters every day, below. Also, whenever possible, I will link the song's video on youtube.

I hope some of you will follow the countdown with me. Maybe you'll see some old favorites of your own that you haven't thought about for a long time.

I will warn you that I am a 27-year-old man, so some of you in different age groups may not love my choices so much. But, then again, this may be a way for you to discover something new. Actually, I'm pretty sure, everyone will see some things on the countdown that they love, and other things that they hate.

Again, this will be based 100% on my personal opinion. My list is complete, and I look forward to hearing what you think about it.

There you go. The countdown begins. Phil Collins has a great, unique voice. And that is Eric Clapton on the guitar. What a combination. I like this song a lot. The video is sort of theatrical and corny, but the song is timeless. The actual song begins at 2:28 into the video if you want to skip the B.S. Happy New Year!
