USF is one of those teams that could come out of nowhere.

on the right day and at the right time, I think they would have a chance to beat anybody.

but alas, no playoff...

I think USF might sneak into the BCS title game because they're going to go undefeated.

That would probably be more interesting. Like the College World Series.

I'm a traditionalist, so I'm mostly against a playoff.

I love the fact that all season is a "playoff" in college football.

But now that there are nearly 120 1A teams, with three or four going undefeated almost every year, it does seem like we've entered a time where we need a "plus one" at the very least (the "top 4 in two bowl games mentioned above)

I would support a playoff if EVERY team in 1A was forced to play in a conference and only conference champs were able to be in the playoffs. A playoff system would be just as screwed up as the current system if ND could constantly get in the top 8 as an independent.

The four major bowls should be the first round of the playoffs. We still get the tradition of the bowls, but we also get a true national champion. The semi-finals and NC game would played at neutral sites.

I would say conference champions of the 6 majors, and 2 at large. and force major conferences to have a championship game.

USC goes undefeated, Oklahoma has one loss, Florida has one loss, USF goes undefeated. Who gets in ?

Wait, I've heard this joke.

USF will not play in title game this year under no circumstances and they still play 3 pretty good teams in Rutgers, Louisville and Cincinnati and as fans like to forget all it takes is the other teams on schedule to play their a game and USF to have off day and they lose. They barely won last night and WV had 6 turnovers.
