The NCAA will decide if Neighbors is to be considered "recruited" or not to Alabama, but my guess is that he just picked Bama and will not count on the scholarship limit per the article cited.

I doubt he can skirt under the "not recruited" rule. Maybe his parents will pay his way for a year or so.

Why?

I do not remember reading anywhere that Bama coaches ever called him prior to his commit nor that he was visited by coaches prior to that. It is not relevant if OTHER teams recruited him, only if Bama did. I have seen no evidence that they did and if they give him the Bryant scholly and the NCAA agrees he was not recruited...he does not count on the limit.

You can't say they they haven't so much as sent him a letter over the years. Saban and his bunch may know how the use the grey areas of the rules, but I doubt the Shula crew knew how to use those areas.

I hope they are able to use the Bryant scholly's for every player possible (Lowe and Neighbors), but with our history with the NCAA over the last 15 years, why chance it?

CNS didn't know the term "Grayshirt" but does as he said "just ask them to enroll later". The point is if we have better players that we would like to get this year then perhaps someone like this guy will be asked to enroll later for the good of the team. That was my point.

Andrew Bone has stated on multiple occasions that he thinks Neighbors will be the surprise of this class. He is the kind of kid who loves Alabama.
