Anything over an uncarismatic Shula will be a pleasant surprise. I have always respected Spurrier and thought he was a great coach. I do hope he comes to the Capstone and restores US to greatness. Only time will tell. And thanks ROLLTIDE803 for backing me up on this.

I have already read that. It came up on memphistider.blogspot.com over an hour ago. What is your point? I am stil saying that WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TYPING...like the beginning of this thread is FALSE....so far at least. Just admit it.

Look guys it would be fun to see Spurrier in Bama for a few years but is it realistic. He has coached at many places and won all he can in college (SEC and National Title). I agreed with a poster from above about the age. I would fear that Spurrier would not make a tenure here at the Capstone. He might stay five years but would most likely retire at the end of whatever contract we offered. Is it better to get soemone good for 10, 15, whatever years? I guess that is the $4.1 millon question!!

Why would anyone in Columbia know anything about what Spurrier is going to do anyway, you all would be the last to know due to the big game Saturday.

WhatI am telling you about Shula was stated on a local radio show last evening about the BOT and Mal's recommendation to Witt to Fire Mike Shula. I never said Spurrier was coming to Alabama for 100% sure, but I did say that about Shula was reported on air.

That same story was posted on al.com and then taken down a few hours later...why was that? Why are you saying that things in Columbia are on fire about the story when you are not even in Columbia?? You are the one that stated that things are on FIRE here about the STORY...well sorry but it isn't. Again, so you can process this. I WANT SPURRIER TO GO TO UA...just seems like very wishful thinking.

Bingo. The fact that no one in Columbia is talking about it actually makes it more likely that he is leaving.

what i said was a metaphor for, Were there is smoke there is fire. The only thing this has to do with Columbia SC is Spurrier himself. I have not based any of my information off of anything in SC. All my info is coming from Bham and Tuscaloosa news sources.

Oh by the way, no one is mentioning the media that is set up outside the athletic facility. That is not normal folks, they aren't just sitting there waiting for the leaves to fall.

P.S. Spurriers answer to the question about Bama and Miami makes me feel good about him going somewhere besides South Carolina, I just hope its Bama.

I HOPE that we get SPURRIER....I went to UA during the Dubose to Fran to Price to Shula....and each time I saw the rumors come and go and had to SETTLE for someone who wasn't our #1 choice. That post is from yesturday and was reported already 100 times thru various bama forums and websites. The only smoke or fire coming from Columbia has to deal with Miami accusations...people calling in the radio shows are talking about Miami...they don't take the Alabama rumors halfway as serious as they take the Miami rumors....and guess what, ESPN is the same way. What is your point with the CNN stuff? Let me guess, you like Fox news....fair and balanced by ass.

I said yesterday, and I'll say again today, Steve Spurrier is not coming to Alabama. Get over it!!! I would rather have Nick Saban.
