Let's all be honest here. You do realize it's the other way around, don't you?

Actually no. You do realize that Saban's winning percentage for his career is barely above 50% for all teams he ever coached not named LSU, right?

Ummmmmmmm, isnt Butch Davis also a so called inheritor?

This was the program under Dennis Erickson before Davis came to town.....

1989 Miami 11-1 National Championship
1990 Miami 10-2
1991 Miami 12-0 National Championship
1992 Miami 11-1 Conference Title
1993 Miami 9-3
1994 Miami 10-2 Conference Title

Butch Davis had twice as many losses than Ericson (20 vs 9) and 5 more than Coker (20 vs 15) in the same amount of time and is the only coach of the three to have a below .500 year at Miami.

Dennis Erickson 63-9 *Six years
Butch Davis 51-20 *Six years
Larry Coker 60-15 *Six years
-----------------------------------------------------------
Dennis Erickson 2 NC's, 3 CC's
Butch Davis 0 NC's, 2 CC's
Larry Coker 1 NC's, 3 CC's
-----------------------------------------------------------
*Number of years with fewer than 9 wins*

Dennis Erickson 0
Butch Davis 2
Larry Coker 1
-------------------------------------------------------------
Butch Davis did less with what he inherited than Coker did.

If you was a lawyer this would been a hell of closing argument. Case Closed! RTR!

You loser. You edoubleD's1577 are a fool. Davis inherited a program that was slapped with SEVERE NCAA sanctions and that is why Erickson had to go. I know dimwits like you have absolutely no memory whatsoever, but that is the reason Davis is so highly respected and why Coker was fired. Davis rebuilt Miami even through sanctions and formed some of the toughest teams to ever play. You are ignorant, case closed big girl.

Here's a better comparison for you - Florida (win a NC, have 4 losses, then are right back favored to be there again). Expect the same sequence for LSU in 2009.

No it is not. LSU will not get past both Auburn and Alabama in 2009, you better wake up and go check out the returning rosters for that year...especially Auburn's. They will smack LSU down that year for sure.

quote:
To instead credit coach B seems to have been an undisputed part of football (never heard anything about Zook/Meyers) until it became Saban we were talking about.

You are wrong again here. Everyone, even the national media, talked about how Meyer (and yes is is Meyer with NO S at the end of his name you dote) played and won with Zook's recruits. Everyone, even the national media knows that Zook is one of the best recruiters in all of college football...you must have missed the memo.

quote:
Either way, you don't have to be impressed with Miles. But you are in for a rude awakening if you honestly believe LSU to fall off the map (despite whatever may happen next year) as they bring in players as good as or better than the ones Saban brought in, and continue to develop them in the same way as they did last years NCs.

LSWho has also lost Pelini and that will hurt in the long run a heck of a lot more than you think. He was one of the top d-coordinators in the nation and LSU will pay for losing him with more losses on the field.

So, Corndogs, get ready to head back to third or so in the SEC West as Bama and Auburn move past you and you battle it out with Ole Miss and Arkansas for table scraps.

Mr. Crimson Reign aka (i sit my ass in front of a computer 24/7) your are the fool to think LSU will be at the bottom SEC West competing with Ole Miss, Arkansas. Just look at their recruiting. Has Florida fell off since Spurrier left? Nope We are two to three years behind the powers of SEC.(Geo,LSU,FL,Aub) I can see Tenn falling off for a lil bit, but you just keep drinking your kool aid while you sit on your ass everyday looking at highlights of the glory days convincing yourself that history will repeat itself but its not gonna happen. The SEC is much more competive than the glory days. We got to rebuild our program before we can start beating on our chest and saying were gonna go undefeated every year while the rest of the league will fall off. You are a cyber idiot! RTR!

It's a little strange you have such easy access to all these disturbing photos of boys on your computer CR. I mean it does answer quite a few questions, but is disturbing nonetheless

It does'nt matter what his record was at the other schools. He built LSU into what it is today. Instead of your name being 5 straight, without Saban; it would be 5 more straight losses to Bama.

I'll tell you the same way many of us have told your role model "dd", don't you ever assume you have the right or authority to speak for the fan base of the University of Alabama. You have not earned that right, especially considering your histroy of petty comments and condesending remarks. I suggest you find a dictionary and look up the meaning of the word fan. It doesn't mention being critical, not does it mention being rational. Being a fan has to do with support.

If you want to act self-righteous and self-important, start your own blog. There you can rant, rave, and declare yourself the only true fan. There you can be yourself...rude, egotistical, arrogant, and mean spirited.

Many of us learn to observe people by their words and thoughts, in order to figure out their personal agendas and where they are coming from. You mentioned support groups....you might want to consider one for anger management issues and another one for personality development!

Being a fan has to do with support.

So being a fan means showing degrading pictures of people and blasting other college coaches & players just because there doing all there talking on the field. Just because i dont sit in my underwear in front of computer and try to find nothing but negative info about everybody else and when our own program is rebuilding from scratch. How does that show support? It doesn't, all it shows is ignorance and jealousy from getting beat on the field. The powers of the SEC are not gonna fall off they have to be knocked off and were just not there right now. RTR!

I would also add to the argument that Saban has a better eye for truly good talent that will develop the correct way. Players that are amenable to coaching and honing their skills to a professional level.

Sure, Miles has had some highly rated classes according to the services but Saban found the real hardcore players that were dedicated and committed. That group has moved on from LSU and the feet of clay will now begin to be exposed. Especially in 2009 and 2010.

For an example of the likely future direction of LSU just take a glance at the decline of Larry Coker who inherited a tremendous group of Butch Davis' recruits. Like Saban, Davis did all of the hard ground work and moved on prior to his recruits coming to their full fruition. Coker got credit for the early winning percentage, but all rational minds know that it was Butch who was responsible for the Miami juggernaut. Also, all rational minds know that it was Saban who was responsible for the LSU juggernaut of recent years and it was UNDERACHIEVING for Miles to lose two games in 2005 with all that talent and it was UNDERACHIEVING for Miles to again lose two games in 2006 and again UNDERACHIEVING with all of that talent to lose to Arkansas and Kentucky in 2007. I mean, to blow that lead at home against an average Tennessee team lead by Rick Clausen of all people was beyond pathetic and beyond forgivable.

Coker:

2001 12-0
2002 12-1
2003 11-2 (First Three Seasons= 35-3)
2004 9-3
2005 9-3
2006 7-6 Fired

Lester:

2005 11-2
2006 11-2
2007 12-2 (First Three Seasons= 34-6)
2008 10-3???/11-2/9-4???

Butch Davis 6 years at Miami=51-21 (.71831 win percentage)

Nick L. Saban 5 years at LSU=48-16 (.75000 win percentage)

Davis and Saban= The Builders, The Workers, The Creators

Coker and Lester= The Inheritors

RTR

Anyone who compares Les Miles to Larry Coker is an idiot. Miles is a much better coach. In fact, they played against each other in the Peach Bowl and Miles won 40-3 with a freaking backup QB. Yet somehow they are exactly the same?

I know you Bama fans deep down, are hoping that Miles turns into Coker which is why only Bama fans ever make this comparison, but the truth is Miles is a much better coach then everyone gives him credit for, and he's a much better coach then Coker. Coker didn't have much discipline, Miles has no such problem (as he just kicked off Perrilloux)

Face it, Miles >>> Coker.
