i'm sorry, this is downright offensive. as an oif III and oif V veteran, i know what it's like to "check for roadside bombs in iraq" and have seen friends die while doing it. to compare scumbags like this to american soldiers in a combat zone is ridiculous. use your brain before you post.

You know what it's like huh?... How often does one wear a football helmet and check for them with a stick? C'mon man, nothing offensive was intended by those comments. I'm a veteran also and in no way do I think he was implying that Jamar Hornsby is like an American soldier or that he should be an American soldier. Please stop forcing others to be so politically correct. Similar comments would have been that the kid should take a long walk off a short pier or take a flying leap off a 20 story building. It was just a joke. Lighten up

whatever man. it was offensive to me and i was a us soldier doing just this job. this has nothing to do with being politically correct. it has to do with respect.

i'm not talking about the navy here. i'm talking about being a infantry soldier in iraq doing ied sweeps. you've never seen your friend explode because of a booby trapped ied, so clearly you know nothing about this.

A former five star safety that got kicked off the Florida team for using a dead girl's credit card, which is basically a victim-less crime. I don't see why people are so outraged by it. I think he'd be a good replacement for Rashad next year.

yeah, well tell that to the dead girl's parents who received a huge credit card bill after her funeral...

I'm sure paying the credit card off was the least of their worries at that point. I'm not promoting credit card theft, obviously, but the kid was probably 18 or 19 years old and he made a bad decision. He's not a violent criminal or anything. Give the kid a break. The parents probably didn't even have to pay the credit card off if they had theft protection.

Interesting rationalization of a criminal act. Let's see, he's old enough to vote and old enough to serve in the Army or Marines but gosh he's just too young to understand right from wrong. So what if you used a dead girls credit card, after he stole it from her apartment while "helping" to move her things out. You're way off base on this one broc.

And you obviously do not know how many Sailors are on the ground fighting in IRAQ.
I am glad you volunteered and I honor your service to our country.

I don't know whether you just say things to be controversial or if you really are that stupid.

There is so much wrong with what you just said.

First...losing someone that is that close to you is extremely painful. Having to deal with ANYTHING that that is a nuiscance involving them makes it a million times worse.

Second...So you thank only violent criminals shouldn't be allowed on the team? Very classy.

Thrid...He is a violent criminal and has other offenses.

Now you know why I always call you a dillweed, Dillweed.

Broctune, having been around you on the forum for a long time I am shocked at the stance you are taking on this.

This kid also had other theft charges against him on other occassions.

i'm sorry, but there are no "sailors" fighting on the ground in iraq. at least i've never seen it through 2 tours and spending 30 months there. sailors are not in combat situations. this has to be the most absurd thing i've read in a message board in a long time.

i'm not downplaying the navy's role in the war. but they in no way are a part of the ground forces in iraq. they may sit inside some huge fob w/subways and burger kings, but i guarantee they never go outside the wire. the vast majority simply sit on a boat in the persian gulf.

Not getting into a pissing contest with you. But they are on the ground and in combat situ's.
21 years and retired and I have EOD, Seabee and Seal friends on the ground, in combat as we speak.
Sorry for your loss, for I have went thru the same and it sucks.

i've worked with marine seabees. i'm not talking about marines or navy seals here, i'm talking about the navy. regular navy guys are not in combat situations by any stretch of the imagination. were you a navy seal? were you in the marines? if so that is a completely different story.

We are on the same page. Let us not forget about Navy Corpman w/ Marines. They are still Sailor's, regular Navy. Although the situation has calmed, I am biased when it comes to someone telling me that guy's loading 500/1000lb ordinance on an aircraft is not in a combat situation. I know, I know, they are not taking live fire, but one mistake and well, we know what can happen. We are all good man. I am glad you made it thru. Enjoy every day (as I am sure you do). RTR

Only on a bye week can you get on TideSports and hear about an Alabama recruit who isn't being recruited by Alabama while he's in Iraq sweeping for IED's because of the credit cards he's stollen from dead people.

Death to Bye Weeks, they are poisen for online forums.

Ingram gets me pumped up. He's my hero. I just stiff armed the mail lady at the office for no reason at all. I think I hurt her but she knows what's up now. I wrote the number 22 on my tie. I'm a big bad black man.

I clearly don't know anything about this? You still haven't answered the question though. Do soldiers wear football helmets and poke at roadside bombs with sticks? Wait, if you say "no" then does it mean I do know what I'm talking about. Give me a break. I love the way you want to turn my being in the navy as to being clueless. I really love how you know what I have or haven't seen. You fail to take into account whether I have family or friends in the same situations or whether or not I have dual service. Although this still has no bearing with the above comments. Since when do you have to be an expert to know a soldier doesn't wear a football helmet and poke at roadside bombs with sticks? By the way, I simply used the fact that I was a veteran to make it known that I have served my country and didn't think what clark was saying was intended to bash soldiers. IMO you are making something out of nothing.

You don't have anything to feel sorry for clark. I thought what you said was funny as I know you intended to bash Jamar Hornsby for being a lowlife and not our soldiers.
