USF's win (and clearly they are now the second best team in state) has to scare the crap out of FSU. Now, no one is saying they have a better program, but given the school now has a larger enrollment, a far better medical school, and its geographic location, FSU needs to worry, really wory, about what happens in say 5-10 years. Things can change very quickly as SF in Big East which now really is better than the ACC. FSU rose very quickly in the 1990's. Don;t doubt USF can do the very same.

Recruiting will get hurt. Most kids in FL would MUCH rather live there both in distance and culture (real shock to SF kids to move to Tallahassee, it's a very different world). FSU alum base for $$ isn't that much better (women's school until 1945-46). FSU and UF grads still dominate legislature but that is changing as well and given population shift, resources WILL and ARE getting shifted to the south. Expect trend to continue as FSU is in an area no one in that far more populated area of the state cares about at all (and with no major industry to fight for it anywhere nearby).

SO, FSU needs this game today far more than you think. Lose it, they likely won't make the Top 25 all year while USF will likely be top 12 next week with a darn good chance at a BCS game now. Imagine what happens when Bowden leaves FSU....

I think Miami may be in more trouble than FSU!

I don't think it's normal to be Great, I think it's SPECIAL-Coach Nick Saban

So...do you have inside information to prove FSU is scared, or do is this pure speculation?

All the directional and locational Florida schools (USF, UCF, Florida Atlantic, and Florida International) have huge enrollments. They all have a chance to be competitive if they can get something going.

But you're right about Tallahassee being out in the middle of nowhere. I think the sign on the city limits says "Welcome to Tallahassee: Gateway to Dothan."

I mentioned something to this effect a couple of weeks ago..

The state of Florida has an enormous population base (and growing!) and there is PLENTY of excellent players to go around for not only the heavyweights (UF, UM, FSU) but for the USF's and the UCF's as well..

Jim Leavitt is on the verge of becoming the Howard Schnellenberger of the late 70's - early 80's at Miami..

Schnellenberger quickly turned that Miami team into perennial national contenders..

However, Schnellenberger had the advantage of being able to recruit there long before 85/25 was ever conceived..and he was able to turn the Hurricanes into contenders virtually overnight..

Leavitt has done a similar job in Tampa..unfortunately for him the 85/25 rule has put the proverbial 'restrictor plate' on the growth of USF football and he hasn't been able to get USF going nearly as fast as Schnellenberger did with Miami.

"These two entities—Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—are NOT facing any kind of financial crisis," said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. "The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

UA Graduate (Year): I graduated from UAB. I wanted to go to Alabama but UAB had more to offer in a science research field. Still wish that had chosen to go to Alabama.

I agree with your post. I was thinking that same thing the other night when they told how large their enrollment was. I had no idea the school was that big. They are definitely the 2nd best school in the state right now.

I wouldn't say that....IMHO UM and FSU are prob both better than USF....I mean they've got a pretty good team this year but let's don't get carried away....AU and WVU both practically gave their games to them with TO's.....and they still barely beat AU.
