For example, FIU is an 0-7 team that will have 10 starters out and 18 out total. If we win this game, isn't it really low for fans to chant how "we just beat the hell out of" them?

After defeating any pathetic opponent, such as FIU or Western Carolina, should any Tide fan be gleefully bragging "we just beat the hell out of you!"? Is this what the New Bama Tradition has become?

This is not a "Shula Era" thing. This has been going on, rightfully so, for decades.

Rammer Jammer should certainly be banned after "whipping" the likes of Duke and Hawaii and Ole Miss (in OT).

It only speaks of the emabarrassment of mediocrity.

I like the rammer jammer only after we have key SEC wins and if we win big by a noteable opponent. And there are teams I will never do it against EVER. For example...

2005 routing of Florida - YES
2006 OT Victory Ole Miss - NO
Anytime we play Oklahoma - NEVER!!
Auburn & Tennessee - Always
Any team with a relative of Gino Toretta - YES
Any team with a losing record - NO!
Any team that talks smack to the media! - Hell why not

*There are more examples I just feel these are most important*

A lot of times we'll do the rammer jammer and I'll look at my friends and say "I got news for you, we didnt beat the hell out of anyone..."

Rammer Jammer should be reserved for victories over opponents ranked higher than Alabama and any SEC victory.

If you've ever witnessed a home loss to an SEC school and the visitors have a big enough crowd, they usually start there own version of Rammer Jammer reminding us they just beat the hell out of us. It's OK to use it against any SEC school no matter the margin of victory or the manner of securing it.

I had read somewhere that the band was told not to play Rammer Jammer unless we won by at least 10 but after the Ole Miss game the student section got so restless wanting it played that they started throwing stuff at the band so they started it.. don't remember where I read it... I agree though unless we win by 10 or beat awbarn then we shouldn't play it...

ARE YOU ALL KIDDING ME!

You want the crowd/band to strike up Rammer Jammer ONLY if we win by enough.

How about lets not have this song at all! Whatever happened to acting like we have been there before and the last time I checked we have been there 12 TIMES!!!!!!!!!!

Come on fellow Tiders. let show some class when we win. We are Alabama!

Put to the students on a homecoming ballot, less than 100 students wanted to stop rammer jammer. Alums and those that didn't attend here, this is our time here. It's great to hear opinions, but if there is no students then there is no UA, and I want to say that is was like 99% of students that wanted it. Oh yeah, I boo also. I don't feel like my class or respect is in question by doing either of these two things.

Maybe invest in a skybox or some seats in the expansion where we could get more young fans like us students close to the field to make it rougher on opposing teams. The same one's of you that are giving us the dirty looks while we sing Rammer Jammer are the same one's I see sitting down on 3rd downs. Please turn Eli and The Snake up in your headphones, continue sitting on your UA cushions cause your bad backs cant take hard seats for a few hours, and watch us stand all game and keep our team hyped up, then sing Rammer Jammer.

You just made my point. Class does not equal golf clapping after we squeeze out a win. Why is this a new thing? We've been doing it off and on for several years now. All of you that are complaining should sell your tickets where we can get some more loud rowdy friends in BDS. Don't bring clients to a game, that's just seats real Bama fans didn't get to enjoy because they were there. It's the students university. Be quiet. If you were truly worried about the status of your alma mater you would be complaining about the 22 murders in T-town this year and the student killed this weekend. Not a silly cheer we students enjoy. If you didn't go to school here, be quiet. Go rag on Shula or something, I can deal with that, but leave what we do alone.

I would be extremely happy if Rammer Jammer was the most unclassy thing that our student's and fans did on Gamedays, but for now, it doesn't make my top 25.

I think you pay way too much attention to the words. It's the cheer we do when we win. Should it have been

hey rebels,
hey rebels,
we just needed overtime to beat you,
Rammer Jammer yella hammer nearly blew it against a bad ole miss team alabama.

Yeah doesnt really roll off the tongue as well as the original, but we could all sit down and work something out with some substitute lyrics for when we win close games. But for now.... IM SINGING RAMMER JAMMER.

Oh, and BTW, I sung it at the FIU game this weekend too. And I enjoyed very much.

NetSlob, I agree that your suggestion would be better than the way the cheer has been sadly abused as of late.

Do you think Coach Saban will stop it?
