Grads only call me that in jest, so I don't know.

And you think they are in jest because you are insightful, or misinformed?

Hey, me too! My dad was a Bama fan and my mom an Auburn fan. My aunts and uncles were fairly evenly split. I also graduated from AUM. I've been a huge Alabama fan all my life and remember attending games in Denny Stadium when I was little. I started school at the old army hospital in Tuscaloosa. We had to go there for about six months until Skyline Elementary was completed. RTR

I will be graduating from Troy next spring, hopefully. I wasn't able to attend UA but I have been a Bama fan my entire life. I don't think that it makes me any less of a fan because I am getting my education at a more convienient location. If I would have gone to UA, the career I chose (and any decent paycheck) would be put on hold for an extra 2 years.

Nothing "counts". An Alabama fan is an Alabama fan. It's not about that.

Congrats, StuBone. Don't you wish these jerkoffs that didn't even go to Bama would find another team to cheer for and start posting on another site?

That's over the line. I'm glad to have those who didn't go to Alabama as part of our fan base. I'm especially glad that you weren't responsible for hiring our coach. What would you have done? Snatched Croom out of Starkville?

I've never understood the folks that go to a rival school, get a degree, and still cheer for Bama. More power to them, but that seems like a lonely way to spend 4 years (or more).

I wanted to be an architect at one point, then I found out that to stay in state, I'd need to go to allbarn. I'm not an architect.

UA B.S. C&BA c/o 2003, UAB MBA c/o 2008

I was faced with the same situation and made the opposite decision. Somehow, I was able to get my degree and, miraculously, remain a passionate fan of the University. After spending my youth in Arkansas, being around all the obnoxious pig fans, and being at API during the Bill Curry years, if someone wants to impugn my faithful allegiance... I can live with that.
One funny story: I worked with another architect who was an Auburn grad, but was a big Bama fan; he actually attended the University first and was a walk-on receiver for one of Bear's last teams (it was his life-long dream). He was on the team for one year and in next preseason practice he was crossing the middle, went up for a high pass from Don Jacobs (said he always threw high passes)and was drilled into the ground by Thomas Boyd. It shattered his arm and he decided he had lived his dream and it was time to get on with life. With aspirations to become an architect and due to finanacial considerations, he decided Auburn would be the logical choice. He lamented telling his mother of the decision, for he came from a passionate Bama family, but after mustering up the courage he broke the news. His distraught mother begged him if there was another place he could go. He mentioned that he would love to go to Virginia, but it was much too expensive and it would cost a kidney to afford the tuition. Her reply: "Well ,I do have two."
