Yep, just heard it too. He could have killed the rumors and just said that Shula will be back next year as coach. But, he didn't. That would be the easiest thing to do to calm down everything...only if it is true. That leads me to believe this thing isn't over yet.

The Doug Walker announcment is an appropriate response if they are going to make an announcment after the weekend, when candidates for the HC job finish thier final games this weekend. Everyone needs to remember 1/2 the teams have games still this weekend.

That's very true. They only care about the well being and the future of the Alabama Football Program; and the fans and the alumni don't control that!

The more we wait the more I think he stays. I dont believe Mal Moore and Witt has the guts to fire this guy. If I was Shula I wouldnt want to stay everybody has lost confidence in this guy.

Not everybody.
The way I read it most of the newspaper writers seem to agree that he deserves one more year. The "experts" and I use that term loosely , on ESPN say he deserves another year. The former players and alumni I hear comment say he needs and has earned the right to 1 more year.
You should not assume that everyone shares your opinion.

If he is retained he will probably hire assistants that he feels comfortable with instead of getting assistants with a proving record. Let's just say the first play that will be run in 2007 will be a running play up the middle -2 yards. I'm not wasting anymore money on this program until the BOT, Mal Moore and Dr. Witt get a backbone. And hire a proven head coach.
