Technically "we" are not out there on the field. "We" do not snap the ball. "We" do not throw the passes or hand it off and "we" certainly don't score the points.

Also, technically when watching on TV or in the stands it is "them" doing all of those things.

However, Coach Saban told us in his first press conference that everyone needs to do their part to make this program the best it can be. "If your going to be an alumnus, be a good one. If your going to be a fan, be a good one."ETC.

We may not be playing the games and it may in fact be "them" on the field, but this is OUR PROGRAM! We support it with our time, energy, passion, money, etc and if not for the "WE" there could be no "THEM".

So in closing, if anyone wants to disagree that we shouldn't say "we", I challenge them to ask any player if they have ever been inspired by the cheers or support of the fans which enabled them to step up their game to another level, thus allowing them to contribute positively in the game. Likewise, if they ever heard the boos and it took them down a level thus having a negative impact on the team, then I would have to say that each one of us has a direct impact on the outcome.

ROLL TIDE. It's all relative...

i used to say we all the time and felt weird about it especially the way people talk about "we/them". but they were and always will be my team. i must admit i feel at ease saying "we" now that i am a student. i know that will open a can of worms but that is the way i feel. the fans are apart of the game too. so there should be no exclusion. WE all want to win.

Technically, it's either "We vs. They" or "Us vs. Them."

I use they.
When I played H.S football I hated the term "we" when someone referred to the team. They were not out there doing the hot 2 a days, running hills, 100 up's and downs, fighting for position, getting ankles and knees and jammed fingers taped. It's not right for those that had to go through that.

I say we when talking about Alabama as an entire team/group..as in the Bama Nation...not specifically the football team.

This is a silly argument. I think most people understand what is meant when they say 'we'. It is not anything to get so mad about really.

I did not attend UA my Son did. I still send donations and support Bama in everyway I can. WE are the Nation of the University of Alabama. I will fight for the right to say so every chance I get and no narrow minded opinion is ever going to change that. Mad
I am so impressed with your comments WAYNE 33 that if my wife and I were abole to have another son we would name him after you.....or Mark Ingram.......or maybe both... Big Grin

Oh no don't do that, then you might say "We are pregnant" which would start a whole other argument over again. Actuall the "we are pregnant" one bugs me too. We are not pregnant, she is and I just had a lot of fun helping her get that way Smiler... we are going to have a child but she is pregnant. However, we beat Clemson. They done their part on the field. The fans in attendance done their part in the stands. And we at home did our parts rubbing rabbits feet or whatever... even my five year old did her part and yelled Roll Tide... Alabama... Yeeeha after every score... and quite a few first downs... But WE won, some of us(namely the actual players) had more to do with it than others.

Probably as silly an argument as there can be. I would just encourage True BAMA fans to ignore foolishness such as that when it is presented. Any true fan of a team can refer to that team as we or us. No one knows how deep someone else's ties to a team runs.

I think most on here couldn't care less if a person uses we or them, and rightfully so. There are some though who get all bent out of shape over it...like they take it personally.

Someone should write a book on what is acceptable fan behavior here at Alabama. Do we sing Rammer Jammer or don't we...if so, how many points do we have to win by? Are we supposed to say we or they, us or them, y'all or y'alls. Who knew we had such a sophisticated and eloquent fanbase. Big Grin

No wonder we/us/fans/Alabama take such a beating in the media. We/us/fans/Alabama can't even agree on what pronoun to use when referring to our/their/the University's team.

If you get your panties in a wad over this triviality...then you need to find another hobby.

If saying "We" makes fans feel closer to the team which in turn feeds the frenzy which in turn attracts recruits then i'm all for it.

Fans are a pschological boost or drain to a team and since they can and do influence it to some small degree then thay are part of it.
