Per LA Football Magazine and Tigerbait.com,
Miss. State leads.
other 3:
Bama
Okie
USC Trojans
------------------------------------------------
I've heard if he goes to Alabama as a running back, he will be converted with in a year to LB.
Miss. State is looking at him as a RB. He wants to play RB in college..LSU recruited him as a LB. He dropped LSU and decline the scholly. Okie is looking at him as a LB or S. Discuss.

He wants to play Running back and they are the only school telling him he will...Bama and Okie may want him as a LB, but are telling him he may play at RB. LSU wanted him as a LB and Connor looked elsewhere. Just passing along info. about this prospect. Discuss.

I wouldn't see him playing RB. With Richardson coming in and the stable that is all ready there just doesn't seem viable. So if he wants to play RB, then MSU would probably be the best fit for him.
Do you have any stats on him Saevick? He must be a little slow (for an RB) or very strong (for an RB) if they are looking at him to play LB instead of RB.

They've beaten us two years in a row or have you forgotten? And they make it three. Croome produces good backs so If he wants to be a RB why not look at State. The last NFL back Bama produced was Alexander. Under Croome Norwood has his best year and may be Atlanta's starting back this year.

Santonio Beard, Ahmad Galloway, and Shaud Williams have all played in the NFL at the RB position.

Rivals list him as an athlete..
Per ESPN-
quote:
Some uncertainty surrounding a possible commitment to LSU (Feb. 24). 2007: Carried 205 times for 1,139 yards (5.6 average) and 13 touchdowns.

Impressive numbers for Class 5A in LA. But I have heard he would be more benefitical at LB. He wants to play RB, especially in the SEC.

quote:
Conner is physically gifted, with a great blend of size and straight-line speed. He's tall and isn't a naturally fluid runner, but he could develop into a workhorse college back in a power-running scheme. Has typical north-south rushing skills, and is difficult to arm tackle when he squares up his shoulders and runs downhill. He's basically a one-gear back, but he hits the hole fast and can be a load to bring down after he gains momentum. Shows adequate shiftiness through traffic, but prefers to follow his blocks, lower his shoulder and run through smaller defenders. Has superior upper- and lower-body strength and power. Picks up good production after contact and runs with deceptive balance, despite his taller frame. Finishes runs and keeps his legs churning. Can wear down a defense and make defensive backs think twice about coming up in run support when he reaches the second level. Has mostly straight-line athleticism and lacks the lateral quickness to consistently avoid defenders. Could struggle to pick and slide through traffic in a zone scheme. Needs to regularly run with good body tilt at the next level to remain productive after contact and avoid big hits. Lacks a second gear and burst when he finds an open seam, and he isn't very elusive in space. Conner is a tough, blue-collar competitor and a hard-nosed runner. If his skills don't develop sufficiently on offense, he could make one heckuva strong safety or outside linebacker and special-teamer.

Something weird....Scout.com says he was named First Team for District 2-1A as a junior after rushing for 1,300 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Did he transfer to Ouachita Parish HS from somewhere else?

And it sounds like he is pretty strong. I think Alabama will just be too deep at RB for him to earn a spot with any playing time. He sounds like a good RB, but would be better served at most of the schools interested as a LB.

While this kid seems like a hell of a talent, I would take Trent Richardson over any other back for 2009 class, including Brown.

By the time Richardson leaves Alabama, I truly believe he has the ability to break Alexanders records. The only problem is that we have so much depth at the position, but that can be solved in Trent comes in next year and proves he is the top back.

The idea of Richardson becoming a feature back in the program is not one to bank on. Saban loves RBBC.

If Terry Grant hadn't got hurt last year, he would have had 1000 yards. If you make plays, Saban will put you on the field. Personally, having competition between Richardson, Ingram, and others will be better than being stuck with a dancing Darby and fumbling coke dealer.
