The reason for getting a Head Coach is more than about records. (I hesitate to say new, because Mike is not a HC).

It's having four years of close observation to determine that Mike is not THE MAN to restore this program to a championship level.

But, if you were looking only at records then Mike Shula arguably has the worst record in modern history.

Dubose and Shula are about the same by the numbers

An argument could be made that Dubose had the better record because he managed to win an SEC championship in his four years.

Of the three years that Alabama has lost 6 conference games since Ears Whitworth. Dubose had one and Shula had two.

Dubose beat both Auburn and LSU 2 out of 4 times. Shula has yet to win against either.

With better mental discipline this year...

I have to agree as bad as Dubose was, he is probably a better coach and motiator than Shula. He did win a SEC Title in 1999 and he beat Auburn and LSU. However, Dubose won with the best players Logan Young could buy and sold his soul (and Alabama's too) for that Championship. Dubose is part of the reason we are in the predicament we are in today. So for that reason alone since Bryant I'd rank them
1. Stallings
2. Curry
3. Franchione
4. Perkins
5. Shula
6. Dubose
7. Price
