Bama got trounced by Louisville in Stallings's first year.

But I agree with others: I'll give Saban 2 more years to get his players and his system established before I start doubting his coaching ability.

Maybe Applewhite is part of the problem too? Who knows ...

Yep and wasn't it a bowl game? Also didn't both Bryant/Stallings both loose their 1st game while coaching at Bama?

Just saw this in my crystal ball. Is it old news?

NCAA—Reinstated Alabama football players, OL Antoine Caldwell, OL Marlon Davis, RB Glen Coffee, DB Chris Rogers and DB Marquis Johnson from suspension for improper receipt of textbooks.

I find it most interesting that we would like to consistant blame the coaches for losses, especially terrible loses. As it is often said the players make the plays, not the coaches. JPW is extemely inconsistant and undependable. At the end of the day he is a loser. He is the master of choak and a poor leader. Unless there is a quaterback change or if JPW doesn't finally grows up, Alabama will be a disappointment. Alabama will be at risk to lose any game whenever JPW is at the controls. Saban is stuck with a bipolar quarterback for the rest of the year. It is unrealistic to expect Saban would be able to develop a starting quarterback this late in the season.

I agree. We have one more game before the season comes to a merciful end. JPW better enjoy the trip to Auburn -- because it hopefully will be his last start as Alabama's QB.

In response to an earlier reply: Coach Stallings and Coach Bryant may not have had their most successful first season, however, they were not making 4 mil a year either. And, today's loss was inexcusible!! It was LA Monroe!! And, John Parker may not be the only problem, however, he is a big problem. As the QB he is the overall leader of the team and players respond accordingly. At some point you have to ask yourself has john parker lost his confidence? and, has the offense lost at least some of their confidence in him? I believe that Saturday's loss to LA Monroe was the fault of the coaches, and the players both offense and defensive. Also, JP's 2 interceptions did help set the tone. The team is simply as I stated earlier, become unraveled after the LSU game. We can only hope that things will improve for next week and next season. I still beleive in the tide and the coaches. We all just have to believe that things will get better, and at some point I believe they will. Hopefully sooner than later.

And it was Louisville and not LA Monroe. A much better team. Thats why they were in a bowl game. Besides, Gene Stallings had just beaten Auburn and after that Bama did not care about beating Louisville because the Iron Bowl was there bowl game that year as far as they were concerned.

The loss can not be laid only at JPW's feet, but the is the on-the -field general and he sets the tone. With the early interceptions he set the tone for the rest of the team, for the rest of the game. The pattern of this team goes all the way back to Shula's first season. JPW's failures and inconsistancy deeply affect the psyche of this team. When the team begins to experience the same breakdowns, it will respond according to the ingrained patterns of behavior. If JPW had been able to break HIS cycle November swoons, this could have been a very different year. HE is the leader, the TEAM will respond to his success and can not overcome his failures.

I agree with you and let me stress the point that at no time did I lay the complete blame at JP Wilsons feet. I said that his loss of confidence as QB is a big problem in turning the ball over. And you reinerated my point that He is a big problem along with the offensive line. This team was not ready to play yesterday just as they were not ready to play last week against Miss. St. But in yesterdays game against LA Monroe both off. and def. did a horrible job. I don't know what it's going to take to get Bama back on it's winning feet again. Hopefully Auburn will fire them up. Otherwise it will be another long day and season for Bama. Hey rtmf... Thanks for the feedback.
