As I watched the game, my immediate reaction afterward was the team wasn't prepared, and in some aspects, they were not. However, the defense turned in their best statistical game of the season (215 yards allowed, yes, even though Miss St is a weak offense, the D still did well). I thought the team looked pretty fired up and IF we'd even gotten up just 12-3 at halftime, State did not show the ability to drive the length of the field to score twice, and really not even once. I saw Saban chewing out the defense for not tackling well and saw the coaches, and even Simeon, trying to talk to JP and support him.
My question is, do you guys think that the coaches are not doing their job to the best of their ability or is it that our guys are just not getting it?? My wife teaches 12th grade English, and for some kids, no matter how much she teaches, begs, pleads, and disciplines, they do not respond. So, what do yall think? |

You can coach all you want, if the players do not have the talent, it will not matter the majority of the time. Look at it the other way around. Is Les Miles really a good coach, or does his team have enough talent to cover it up?

Hate to point fingers but we need three things. More depth on the OL, a bigger DL to not get pushed back, and a QB that won't go bonehead on us in critical times. I love what JPW has done for the team during a tough time and we have him for another year, he just looks like a confused freshman sometimes and needs to learn that a 7 yard loss in Starkville or an 8 yard loss in T'town against LSU beats the hell out of a game changing turnover.

CNS and staff have missed a little but in no way is coaching the issue on this team. We have so many problems folks it is really hard to cover them all. Talent is an issue, attitude is another major issue (losers) and the QB problem is another. JMO but Coach selected those he thought could give us the best chance to have a wining season and gave them most of the practice hoping that could get better. The selection of JPW was sound since he had played all last year. The problem with the QB
selection is he had never seen JPW play in a game and how he chokes so easly. I think had he known this then he might have gone another path but then again he was trying to avoid a losing year and starting this year with 17 might have resulted in us being 5-7. The problem is for us we have to do this next year again and by this I mean 17 will have to play well for us to be 7-5 or 8-4 but no damn way do you go with 14 again. I just don't see CNS doing that mistake again. |
