With all this talk about Shula getting fired, which I don't think will happen, who are the REAL possible replacements. I think you have to exclude the following:

Spurrier - to many people with money, the
people really in control, resistant
to Darth Visor.
Butch - rejected Alabama at least once, has no
desire to coach at a school with as
high expectations.
Saban - will still be in the NFL, best friends
with the Dolphins owner.
Rich R. - has rejected Alabama at least twice,
with basically a blank check handed
to him & is a WVU alum.
Bobby P. - has rejected both Alabama and
Auburn, has all the money and
resources he wants with less
pressure.
Bob Stoops - not a chance, no money or anything
else would pry him from the
perfect setup he has in Norman.
Pete Carroll - please, see above and insert
that he is in L.A., not Norman.

Also, please leave off any NFL coach that has not coached in college previously, history shows that it is very rare that one can go from the pros to college and be successful without any prior college coaching experience.

Where is your data in reference to Saban, Rich R., Bobby P.,?

Davis we know is already at NC while Stoops and Carroll are at upper tier programs already.

And Butch Davis was holding off on the NC job until he heard something regarding the possible vacancy at the capstone. He was offered well before he actually went to NC. He just didn't think anything would come of the rumors and speculation. He was interested at one point.

Sir, you are clueless. Go buy some credibility and then check back in a few weeks.

On a serious note, I wonder what it would take to get Stallings back? I know he is old, but it sounds like he misses the sidelines.

I am really trying not to sound petty or sick, but how is his son?

I don't recall Petrino or Rodriguiez ever turning Bama down. The way I heard, RR was interested in Bama.

NOBODY and I mean NOBODY wants the Alabama HC job. By nobody I mean anybody that has a decent HC job presently. Why would anybody want the job anyway??

Forget Spurrier, he turned you guys in to the NCAA.

STOP dreaming about any of the 'big' names.

KEEP Shula....

You all must be kidding........

Even to hear Stallings, Ditka, Jimmy Johnson makes me laugh. These guys do not want the problems of Alabama "fooseball" and most of all they do not need the money.

Stoops, Carroll, Mack Brown....a waste of time, Bama does not have enough money and they have great set-up where they are. All have recent National Championships. I had a post earlier on why Spurrier would not come.

In reality maybe a Dave Cutcliff, (he was hand choosen to coach to develope the Manning duo and did a good job) or Sly Croom (who should have had the job when Shula was hired)of Jeff Bower. Don't think Bower would take it because he has loyalty to Southern Miss, something Bama has missed for a while.

We can all understand this, we're up a creek witout a paddle. Bama has managed to piss off the most likely candidates in one way or another or has no respect AT ALL from any HC wanting to succeed.

I say keep Shula, UNLESS you were guaranteed...

NICK SABAN or

BRET BIELEMA (Big 10 Coach of the year - runs a power offense and has a top 10 defense)

No Petrinos, Rodriguezes, or any other wannabes. We need a homerun coach from a major conference. If not, we're better off riding this thing out until one becomes more available.
