NASCAR has a set of rules. Toyota follows the rules. NASCAR changes the rules in the middle of the season because Toyota is too successful. Any other "sport" you know of that changes the rules in the middle of the season because one team is being too successful?

Apparently this is the only "sport" where being "new" is an unfair advantage.

Robin Pemberton, vice president of competition, said the Toyota motors are legal and in line with previous guidelines. But NASCAR is responsible for maintaining a level playing field, and because Toyota is new to the sport and working with new designs, the manufacturer has gained an advantage over Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford.

I agree. I have never understood why NASCAR changes the rules every day. Seems unfair to Toyota to me.

The purpose of their rules is to keep the races as competitive overall as possible. In most cases if a particular model of car is winning the majority of the races, you can look for a change in that model of car immediatly.

This is un-American and reminds me of our wonderful rules and laws in the field of education. We seem to reward people for being unsuccessful these days instead of rewarding people for being successful. Americans all feel entitled to everything and accountable for nothing. Our time in the sun is quickly setting, and it is very sad.

You guys are kidding, right?

The NCAA doesn't apply the rules equally to each institution yet you all support NCAA football, basketball, etc.

At least NASCAR applies the rules to every team.

NASCAR is nothing more than a bunch of rolling billboards drivien by whiny corporate pretty boys chasing each other's tails in a circle.

God Forbid that a manufacturer or a team outwork the rest of the teams and gain an advantage and make one of the sponsors lose airtime.

I could see college football doing the same thing: "Sorry, Bama, but you have too much of an advantage over Western Kentucky, so, today, you have to keep one arm inside your jersey, and add 5 pounds of weight to each shoe to make it fair". Meh.

Four plus hours of boring advertising and shrill, annoying announcers blathering on about the same things: tires, fuel mileage and "bein' tight in the middle and loose off".

That's a NASCAR broadcast these days.

Works better than Ambien.

This has been done to every manufacturer...not just Toyota. Ford was hit with spoiler changes to slow them down when they were beating GM when Ford came out with the streamlined T-bird 25 years ago...old news.

Nascar IS a sport...its competition of the highest level. The point of "being a sport" isnt the case here.

The real point is Brian France needs to be kicked in the balls by his family.

Well its not the fact that Brian France is making the wrong move. Stuff like this was going on when Bill France Jr. was in charge. I'm not a big fan of the Toyota dominance, but for Christ's sake, Toyota has done their homework, its a shame to have some of that stripped away!

If this is news to you, you don't know a thing about car racing. For that matter, you don't know a thing about winning.

Using the same set of parameters and being better is what winning is all about. Then the losers complain, and a new winner is born.

We don't need more laws, just more executions.

I'm thinking I might take that new chick from Logistics. If things go well I might be showing her my O-face. "Oh... Oh... Oh!" You know what I'm talkin' about. "Oh!"
