What operating system are you trying to run it on?

Windows Vista

Hmmm....it should be working since you've installed the proper framework. Did you restart your CPU after you installed? I'm not as familiar with the Vista security as I am with XP, but it could be a security issue with this program and Vista, especially since it's accessing the internet (but I'd have to see the code and such to know how to provide any further guidance). One thing to try is if you have any security software running to see if this program has permission to access the internet (that's a possible stumbling block).

The only other real option is to run this on an XP OS (with Framework 2.0 installed) or you can also install the Framework 2.0 on a Unix/Linux system and it should (I use that term lightly b/c I don't know how this was compiled or what was used to compile it) run there too.

It's probably not working for you. There should be a counter there that increments every time a vote is cast. Unfortunately I don't have Vista, so I can't compile it for that OS. Frowner
is this a desktop app? If you can get it to run in IE7 then it will not matter the OS, PM me if you want some help either way, I am a web developer by day and at night do a little desktop developement on you guessed it, VISTA

Dont worry about it I copied this off of the texags forum.

Well I was hoping to keep this a secret, but it looks like we might be in a tough situation with this Alabama vote. I have a sister in law that dates a tsip. They live in San Francisco, but they were in town a couple weekends ago when this whole helmet clash thing was just getting started. He is a programmer and wrote a script that voted automatically. We hatched a plan to use the script to get tu and A&M in the finals against eachother. Then we would let the horns and ags settle it fair and square. His program is the reason tu beat notre dame and the reason behind their miraculous comeback against Michigan.

His script is capable of sending 10,000 votes in a matter of minutes. We used it sparingly just to make sure our teams won. We didn't want to be too obvious. Now it appears that this is our only hope. He is on the west coast, so he is sleeping. He may have had it sending a few hundred votes every couple hours or so, and that may be why we are still hanging in there. In a couple hours, when I know he is up, I will get in touch with him and explain the situation. Then hopefully he can nuke the hell out of the poll. There should be plenty of time for us to come back. A vote a second is nothing compared to what he can get cranked out unless the servers get overloaded or something. In the meantime, do everything you can to vote as much as possible so that we can stay close.

I will update later and let y'all know if the script is working.

Looks like it is a desktop application that accesses the internet. I'm pretty certain this can't be "executed" inside of IE7.

Yeah, it's possible that a firewall is blocking access to the net. I believe that Vista comes with the .Net framework, so it shouldn't be necessary to install it if you're running Vista.

This was written and compiled with Visual Studio .Net on XP Pro SP2.

This just keeps getting funnier and funnier! My guess is that this would fry the ESPN servers....and you know good and well that if aTm and da Horns went at it that the ags would start running this script once they got down. This really has become a science fair.....it is amusing though and I'm enjoying the laughs! Cool

Yeah, it's just a standalone Windows app. It makes connections directly to ESPN's web servers. It does not interact with IE7 or any other web browser.

If that is true, he must run it on a computer with a VERY fast Internet connection.

Hell, if the Aggies are about to do it put the exe back up. They said they would rather be competing with Auburn and called us trash, lol. Apparently they've never seen the Barn. I now devote my time to destroying the douchebags.

True. Maybe the original poster exaggerated a little bit without realizing the technical limits on such a task. Using it for a hundred votes or so maybe.....but 10,000 in a matter of minutes. That's a lot of internet traffic in a mere matter of "minutes"! Still funny though....hehehehe..

That's too damn funny. They're so desperate that they're talking about waking up a fan of their arch-rival Texas and begging him to use his mad skilz on their behalf. That's what happens when you're the ag school in your state and your rival is the flagship.
