I e-mailed him the picture, addressed the issue of credibility (and the growing lack thereof), and asked that he check into it and have it removed if possible. Here is his response:

When we checked that was the only unit with a tag like that and it has been removed. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Ken

I thought that it was pretty dang cool. Thoughts?
Thanks! Iam glad someone on this forum thought about and did this!

I don't see this tag issue as a "bashing" the police issue. I see it as an issue that you apparently have one or more police officers on the TPD that want to make a "point", that just because we work here does not mean we are Tide fans, in fact we are Auburn fans. Official police vehicles should not be used to make a "point" of anything. That's all I have said and I am sticking to it. I know in many jurisdictions there would have been at the least a letter of reprimand for putting anything unauthorized on a police vehicle. Frankly, I could care less how many barn fan Police Officers are on the TPD as long as they and fans of anyother team including Alabama keep it to themselves while on duty.

I think it is a good thing to remove the tag, it seems just a point to cause resentment between the students and fans and the TPD. An attempt to provoke a response and the officer has the authority and resources to put down anyone who might question or disagree with his loyalties.

I told the Tuscaloosa Police Department police Chief, who is head over police officers that work around the entire City, particularly the University of Alabama, that one of his men had an Auburn tag on the front of his vehicle (which was clearly against the idea of "uniformity", which all PDs use). Also, with the growing buzz of a TPD "Conspriacy", and their credibility dwindling every day, I brought it to his attention. When a PUBLIC OFFICIAL who is supposed to have NO bias is driving around town and CAMPUS with an Auburn tag on his car, and then one of his co-workers falsifies a police report in order to arrest a Bama player, there is a PROBLEM that needs to be fixed. This part of the PROBLEM has been fixed, thanks to Mr. Swindle. Bite me.

Ok is this a room full of teenagers? Are you all serious? You honestly think TPD is arresting people based on their football loyalties? And I thought JFK was a streach. So you have succeded in removing all tags from TPD cars. So now everything should be right with the world. I guess no one posting in here has a tag on their vehicle or work vehicle. Would that mean the service or goods you provide would be of less quality. The problem is, if everyone knew how to act when out in public and everyone did not have to have an excuss for their actions, the police would not have to put such a large amount of officers on the strip. All of those officers are working overtime to keep things safe. What are you doing with your off time to help the city and its citizens? I wonder if they would rather be with their families? My thoughts are for all the ignorant posters in here to come up with something real to talk about.

And as far as writting false information in reports. You need to show prof before you make a statement of slander. I am not talking about some one told me or I knew a guy or I heard. Bring us real prof. I am willing to bet you have nothing to show any part of this officers report was made up.
Maybe not false, but not smarter than a fifth grader either. Officer Kilgore claimed to have smelled the odor of alcohol. If he wasn't asleep in the police academy, he would have learned that alcohol has no odor.
Officers are trained to testify that they detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. If they can identify the beverage odor as beer, whiskey, gin etc. they should do so.
False, maybe. Stupid rookie mistake, maybe. Auburn criminal justice major, for sure.

You may think alcohol has no odor, but let me tell you, when I used to drink, my wife could tell if I had a drink at lunch even when I came home at 6 pm...maybe it has no odor as such, but it sure as h*ll leaves a distinct smell on your person, and your breath when you drink, esp. if you have more than a couple. You are stupid if you think one cannot tell if a person has been drinking from odor alone..happens all the time. The odor seeps from your skin pores, and your breath.

Of course, if a person is in a BAR,,more than likely he/she is there to Drink.

Good for you for following through on that and to Chief Swindle for handling it. Let that officer go to Auburn/Opelika and patrol the beat. No need to waste T'loosa taxpayers' money on someone who blatantly and openly and flagrantly taunts Alabama fans/players/alums with that stuff.

Just a couple of questions. How many TPD cars are there? They have to be noticed by the majority of the TPD. Why didn't a member of the TPD middle management question why an Auburn tag was on one of their official cars, when all the others have nothing on them? The TPD can not be that big, so how come the Chief didn't know this was going on? If the police are sworn to act with no bias or personal agenda, how could anyone on the force not question someone "making a point?" These are some questions Chief Swindle might need to question and act upon.

To think that the police are a great group out for the common good is the more ignorant thought. There's a reason that such a huge number of people no longer trust them for anything. To protect and serve......What a joke! I would love for ALL of them, everywhere, to spend more time with their family! Let's save some tax dollars by cutting the forces down to cover the major issues other than hiding to try to lure someone into another ticket to raise money for a city, and yes, college, town cops are terrible! They are always looking for a way to punish a college student financially.
Why don't you let one of them put you in a choke-hold, and then you see if you are wanting to fight back with all of your might! It's human nature to do whatever one must do to protect themselves from everyone, including the country's "finest"! If you don't believe this happened, then listen to the interviews of all those that were witnesses to this event? It's all over the net from various sources that prove things were not handled professionally. There's a reason that Coach Saban went to visit the TPD, and there's a reason the charges are suddenly being "reduced".

If this is your true belief, you have some serious issues. Maybe you should do a few ride-alongs, conduct a little true research, complete a police academy, etc, before making such ridiculous claims.

Personally, I am stunned to hear that a Tuscaloosa PD officer had an Auburn tag on a police car. The car is public property and I've never heard of any department allowing someone putting a personal item of the car. Secondly, I refuse to believe that NO ONE in the department saw it. Surely, a sergeant or lieutenant saw this and should of said something before now. The lack of professionalism for an officer to do somehting so outrageous in a football town like Tuscaloosa is truly beyond my understanding. I question the judgement of the officer and basically the whole department, now. There has to be some kind of answer for this.

There you go again. Not having a clue what you are talking about. It became public knowledge last Friday that Kilgore falsified Johnson's police report.
