I thought Malvo was a Muslim. If he goes to his grave in that condition, based on my theological beliefs he will rot in hell.

I haven't heard anything about his conversion have you?

Malvo is the younger guy. John Allen Muhammad is the older one, and is currently on death row, scheduled to be executed within a couple of weeks I believe. Malvo is in prison for life w/o parole. I couldn't find anything about a conversion, but he did take the stand against Muhammad, saying that he was telling the whole story to try to make amends, and he called up the daughter of a victim to apologize. Muhammad obviously has not sought any time of forgiveness, as he refuses to make any statement whatsoever.

The only reason he's avoided jail time is because possible witnesses have been either too scared or too dead to testify against him, but finally he's tried and convicted of first degree murder, and sentenced to death. Barry waives all appeals because, "I did it and I want the whole world to know I did it." An hour before his execution, a minister comes by his cell, and Barry calmly tells him that he is ready to accept Christ in his life.

No one in here gets to play God, so none of us can read Barry's mind. But based on your view of God's Word and Jesus's sacrifice, does Barry get a "get out of Hell free pass?"

Is any one sin different than another in God's eyes? If you think so then you don't have a grasp on grace or Christianity.

So since we've established, according to the Christian doctrine, a sin is no different than another and the fact a thief who was dying beside Christ was given a pardon why not?

I don't know his heart and neither do you.
So how do you and lgarner feel about that? Would it anger you to know that someone willingly lived a life destroying the lives of others, yet gets into heaven based on confessing in the last hours of his life? Do you feel he should get the same place as you in Glory, even though you tried as best you could to live the most Christian life possible? Yes, all have come short, but at least you were trying. Barry the Beast didn't even try to do right; he just waited until the end and said "my bad." Would you feel like Jonah, sitting on the hill looking at Nineveh?
quote:
But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry. 2 He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. 3 Now, O LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live."

I thought both were Muslim. If neither has made the conversion I consider them brimstone.

Well it's not for me to decide. King David was a murderer but was also a man after God's own heart.

You know BIG, I want all people to go to heaven. There is a parable Jesus used about a man hiring servants. Some worked all day and others just a short period of time but they all got paid the same. I have some family and friends that I don't believe are saved but I hold on to the hope that before they take that last breath they will accept Jesus as Savior. Do you think it really matters to me what I've done for God if they don't make it to Heaven?

You attack a religion from the standpoint of what the followers/sinners say, not what the religion/Bible says. The religion will be flawed every time because the followers ARE sinners and flawed. Read the Bible, Koran, etc. to find what the religion is really about, then make an INFORMED decision....It'll be worth your time, believe me! Wink

Ok, I watched the episode and thought it was funny. I did not really take note thet he was peeing on Jesus. Larry had been started on new prostate med and had a tremendous stream which splattered because it was so powerful. He visited a home of girl he had made mad because she wore too short of shirts to work. He went to bathroom and the picture of Jesus was by the toilet. Hes splatter yielded a drop below's Jesus's eye. The girl took it as a sign that she should quit her job and show her picture. Later he peed outside and also struck said girl in eye. So he peed on a woman.....where is outrage on that? It was joke. If you don't like the programming then change channel or drop HBO.

It's never going to be a big deal to the morally bankrupt.

I'm sure it's not a big deal to you that I have to pay tax dollars to the National Endowment of the Arts so they can sponsor plays with homos having live sex on stage either.
